Who is Notes From Casting?
We are working, professional actors with over 40 years experience combined.
After years of attending casting director workshops throughout Los Angeles, Jay and Jeremy decided that there had to be a better way to bring CDs and actors together. They envisioned a more streamlined, more accessible and much more convenient approach, so in 2013, they founded Notes From Casting.
Jay Boyer – CEO/Co-Founder
Jay received his B.A. in Economics & Theater from Vanderbilt University before completing the graduate program in theater at the American Repertory Theatre Institute for Advanced Theater Training at Harvard University. His passion and expertise in both economics and theater has informed his professional life, culminating in the blending of the two in Notes From Casting.
Alongside his 20+ years experience as a professional actor on stage, television and film, and his award-winning screenplays, Jay has also been an entrepreneur. In 2008, he founded Cat Convertibles, a company specializing in pet furniture that garnered “Innovation of the Year 2012” in Pet Business magazine. For Paleta Farm-to-Table Meal Delivery, Jay headed business development and marketing strategies, helping make Paleta one of the leading designer food companies in Southern California. The combination of such seemingly disparate skills as economics and theater gives Jay a unique perspective on the union of business and art.
Jeremy Rabb – COO/Co-Founder
Jeremy received his B.A. in English & Theater from Princeton University, before completing the graduate program in theater at the American Repertory Theatre Institute for Advanced Theater Training at Harvard University. Besides his 20+ years as a professional actor on stage, television and film, he also co-wrote and produced an award-winning screenplay that traveled the festival circuit.
His background in academic tutoring, which also spans more than 20 years, has provided him with tremendous insight into the tools necessary to guide others toward greater achievement. While the classroom format certainly has its benefits, Jeremy discovered that the most effective and efficient path toward expertise comes through specific, one-on-one attention. Switching so often throughout his career between the roles of academic teacher and acting student (whether in class or on set seeking guidance from leading industry professionals) has reinforced this idea. This distinct appreciation for just how vital individualized guidance is for success continues to be reflected in Notes From Casting.
Andra Reeve – Casting Consultant
Andra was Director of Primetime Casting for a major network on Emmy-nominated and award-winning pilots such as CSI, CSI New York, CSI Miami, The Big Bang Theory, How I Met Your Mother, Two and a Half Men, Old Christine, Judging Amy, Numbers, Without a Trace, NCIS, Everybody Loves Raymond and numerous others. She also cast 30 Days and Developing, both part of the Toronto Film Festival. She received her B.F.A. in acting and directing from University of North Carolina-Greensboro and currently teaches acting and auditioning at the Savannah College of Art and Design.
